Here’s a couple of things I saw recently that I thought I’d share, especially for those of you overseas that are missing home.

FREE STUFF!!!
Submitted by capdog on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 11:00

Yeah right!Yeah right!Got this today:

Dear All,
You may wish to add another mobile to your wardrobe
Nokia Is Giving Away Phones For "FREE"!! Nokia is trying word-of-mouth advertising to introduce its products. And the reward you receive for advertising for them is a phone free of cost!

To receive your free phone all you need to do is send this email out to 8 people (for a free Nokia 6210) or to 20 people (for a free Nokia WAP).
Within 2 weeks you will receive a free phone.

(They contact you via your email address).

You must send a copy to nokiaworld@mail2gsm.com

Kind Regards,
Trudie Luscombe

These email forwarding-for-free-stuff scams have got to be the most annoying freakin' thing in the whole world. Why do people believe that they'll get free stuff if they send out masses of emails? It is simply NOT TRUE!!! Let me tell you in a nutshell how to go about proving that it's garbage.

This Sunday some really awesome dudes will be heading to Chiltern Park Football club for a casual game of soccer as the sun sets (or rain pours, whichever is more appropriate). The best part is, you're invited aswell!

Burn Battle Of The Tributes 11-Feb
Submitted by capdog on Monday, February 13, 2006 - 09:37

On Saturday night we went to Burn for round 6 of the “Battle of the Tributes" competition. It was a classic night at the 'ol favorite, with temperatures in the high 30's and cheap shooters flowing like molasses off a duck's back.

Somebody take back the radio (please)
Submitted by yusuf on Monday, February 6, 2006 - 09:35

Have you listened to radio in this country? It’s a joke. If you do happen to make the mistake of switching the source setting on your radio from CD player to am/fm you’re more than likely to hear either a vacuous young 19 year old without any interesting stories to tell, the latest 50 Cent number about partying ‘in da club’ or an advert. Moreover, since when did radio disc jockeys have to be so good looking? Remember that old saying you’ve got a face for radio?

Build A Bridge And Get Over It
Submitted by capdog on Friday, February 3, 2006 - 07:24

I have the misfortune of driving past this monstrosity every day. And each time I see it, I feel tormented by the sheer stupidity that people exhibit in the most mundane of projects like these. My spirit is weakened, and my heart saddened by the massive waste of resources caused by these dumb shits that call themselves engineers.

A1 Grand Prix
Submitted by capdog on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 08:53

This past weekend Durban hosted the only street race on the A1 Grand Prix calendar. It was a massive, ambitious event that went very well. A1 is a relatively new series, and although it looks similar to the F1 you see on TV, there are a few differences. You see, Schumacher and the boys race for their constructors (Ferrari, Toyota, etc), whereas the A1 is the “World Cup" of racing and therefore each driver represents his country. All the cars are identical under the hood, which means driver’s ability and team strategy play a much bigger role in deciding the outcome. South Africa even has a team, our driver’s name is Stephen Simpson and as it turned out he did really well, placing fifth in the main race! Not bad for a 22 year old.
