 I don't even know why I'm bringing this up. I mean, REALLY now. But alas, here it is, an old ticket that proves there was a party, eight years ago, on a razed sugar cane field in Ballito. That I may or may not have attended. The jury is still out.
The pieces that I can put together, whether they are my own experiences or someone else's, paint a picture of drunken debauchery, mud, blaring boot music, fights, threesomes involving two guys (none of them being myself – I'm pretty sure on that), under-age kids and a lot of rain.
And someone got killed. Shot dead, as far as I can remember.
It's not that it's a bad party per se, the ingredients are there for a rip-roaring time; it's just that as we mature past puberty the prospect of lying drunk in the sludge at 5:00am on the 1st of January starts looking less and less attractive, and the thought of spending New Year's at home watching “Dinner For One” becomes an increasingly appealing option.
So I have no more comment on that. Do they still have those parties? Does anyone go? Or heaven forbid, does anyone let their children go? Maybe they've re-invented themselves as a clean family-friendly event, and I'm being unnecessarily harsh.
Somehow I doubt it.
Anyway, 2006 is nearly over, and with that, it's time to start planning the big one. Or not-so-big one. It's the dreaded question that's on everyone's lips, it's an overused conversation padder, the great nagger at the back of your head: “What are you doing for New Year's?”
We all ask the question, but sometimes it's impossible to answer until you know for definite what everyone else is doing first. Then pick the biggest jol, and hit it!
So go on, tell us. You go first.

my millenium change over New Year was spent in a small 1/2 horse dorpie called Bergville - sounds quaint, but not if the reason was you were stuck there cause you had to graft till late, all yer mates had already left for various prime and rocking destinations...no transport available...
the only solice i could take was to share a couple of quarts at the Bergville Prison...
ok, it was with a couple of the warders that I had befriended and not the inmates ;-)

And trust me never go to east london for new years, all they do is stand on top of a stupid hill and hoot at the stroke of 12! Cant really say were the best place would be 2 go 4 new year,as it changes every year,Margate is pretty cool,but gets over board full on the beach,,about 80.thousand people...and the following day u cant even go on the beach due 2 a large influx of certain people...But ill let u no as soon as i find out which place is gana saposabely be pumping.

May not be everybody's cup of Jack Daniels and Creme Soda but it sure floats my boat - Lightworkx and Lapis Lazuli are doing an AmaFullThrottle shindig down Ifafa way - and knowing the crews involved it is going to be a nonstop carnival which will end on the second....two dancefloors, one trance, the other playing a wide slection of house, breaks, beats, retro, electro and [unlabelled] tunes, which is to say DAMN FINE! Apparently it's on this lagoon, with a sweet clubhouse and...wait for it....no neighbours within miles! Best part is there's ample camping space so you can get away from the hubbub and it's a short hop back to reality.
Perfect, really.
Will post more info when I gits mah grubbies on it.

mostly a mix hey, they do tend to be stricter than they used to be...
however the big umhlanga new year party is the mr white evnt with like 20 odd djs on 3 dancefloors...thats where i am headed after crawling from bar to bar to bar to bar and will eventually walk home while passing thru the beach at some point
