 Over a hundred people pitched up at Virginia beach for the full moon party on Tuesday night, equipped with loads of drums of different shapes and sizes, didgeridoos, harmonicas and fire chains! The bonfire was raging, and despite a bit of drizzle which threatened to ruin everything, people had a great time relaxing and soaking up the vibe.
The full moon was nowhere to be seen for most of the night, but it was great to meet some people and talk shit for a couple of hours while listening to the fire crackle and the waves crash on the shore. There were some very talented drummers, who kept a brilliant rhythm going for ages while a few chicks and some kids danced around the fire.
 I love the whole hippy vibe, everyone's so friendly and chilled out, it's such a great scene in which you can just park off and enjoy yourself. Very tribal and spiritual.
Getting in touch with the ancestors, that kinda thing.
Which reminds me, it's only about 8 months to Splashy! Start the count down.

I wasnt quite sure what to expect from a turnout point of view, Durban's so hard to read at the moment. For example the potentially awesome trip hazard party last friday was a complete flop! They had such a good venue and line up but it was DEAD. Wasnt expecting that at all, considering we've had such a good winter this year.
So rocking up to a drum circle slightly out of town and having such a good turnout was really refreshing. I dont even think I played drums much (which isnt like me at all), the vibe was just so good I just ended up listening to the waves and chilling out. You should have seen capdog with his fire sticks!
Hopefully the next one has even more people with more drums, more fire and even more beer.

full moon parties are the shit, when i went to cofee bay down by the eastern cape on holiday and this back packers lodge invited us to join them, its totaly cool, every plays drums and cool instruments, you get into this groove and we danced around this huge fire, the sangoma of that area did this ritual but it was so cool, and i learnt alot about our countries native culture that i didnt know. cant wait to go to the next one.
