I highly recommend that everyone comes to see The Hellphones this Saturday night at Burn! They are an awesome band from Joburg that will rock your world! Don't believe me? Grab the MP3's from www.hellphones.co.za and give it a listen, their sound is simply amazing, kinda new age rock 'n roll indie. Think The Strokes, Kings Of Leon... but much, much better.
"Durban is probably the coolest place we have played outside of Johannesburg so far," explains Lead singer Tenn Elliot, "We have been down to Durbs a few times now and always had a killer time, with great crowds, and we’ve made some cool friends along the way. So we are amped to get back there now that we have the album out!"
Awww stop it! I'm blushing.
As Tenn says, they're launching their album, "This Is How", so bring some spare dosh. You will not be disappointed! They're also at The Red Door in Maritzburg on Friday night.
If you find yourself unable to choose a local band to vote for on Friday night, then let me help you. Put your cross next to 'Habit To'. Because it's the Right Thing to do.
White Mountain Folk Festival has been kind enough to offer free tickets for two lucky durbanscouts.za.net readers and their partners! This is going to be one awesome festival, happening from the 22nd to the 25th of September.
Right, onto the gigs...
THURSDAY 31st August
A NITE OUT With RedHOUSE, Unplugged @ Vestige Bistro & Bar
Time: 8pm
Where: corner St Thomas/Musgrave Rd
More info: Mandy or Mithesh 031 201 7767
RedHOUSE, has built up a reputation across SA as being one of the most talented, energetic, spectacular and loudest rock bands to ever grace the stages of the local pub, club & music festival scene. They are, in the eyes of many, the most entertaining live act this country has to offer.
FRIDAY 1st September
42nd Street New York, J&B Promotion @ Society
Not too sure what it's got to do with New York, but that's what they're calling it so check it out! It's a J&B promotion, so there's a good chance you'll get your hands on some of that new J&B Jet 12year old... yum.
Burn The Bands Competition @ Burn
Bands: Habit To, FourlettaWord, The Living Alarm, We Stole Snowy, His Dying Wish
Cover: R25
Time: 9pm
The popular battle of the band format where 25 bands compete in a 'survivor' type format. Bands try and get one of three immunities to proceed to the next round. It gets tricky when they can't get the same immunity two heats in a row. Filled with drama, backstabbing and long lasting friends and alliances. Very rock 'n roll!
SATURDAY 2nd September
The Hellphones supported by Porcelain Truck Drivers @ Burn
Cover: R30
Time: 10pm
This band is cutting edge in fun and funky rock n roll. Think Kings of Leon, The Strokes. They are the topic of conversation with the who's who in the industry and are destined to become a prominent band in the SA rock scene.

If anyone notices that the gig guide is ending up in their Spam Mail box (how rude), please let me know. I may have to do some research on how to slip it past those filters.
