Japan and I Move To Take Over South Africa
It has been 17 short months since Japan and I played their first ever gig in march 2006, and they have just released their debut album and are preparing for a nationwide tour to truly start with their quest for global domination by taking over South African hearts and minds.
This Johannesburg based three-piece has made such a good job of converting Jozi City to their infectious blend of ska, swing and punk, that Red Ambulance records has singed them up and released their debut album, unambiguously entitled “Will Take Over The world.”
With a crazy, fun-filled launch taking place in Jozi on 28 July, an entire tour kicks off from that date which sees the girls take off on a musical pilgrimage to the hot spots of the nation
July 28 Back 2 Basix, JHB
August 8 Woman’s Day Concert, Tempo’s Randburg
August 10 OppiKoppi, Northam
August 18 The Bohemian, JHB with Swivelfoot and The Diesel Whores
August 31 The Independent Armchair CPT with Fuzigish and Captain Stu and the Llamas
September 1 Hidden Cellar Stellenbosch wit Fuzigish and Half price
September 8 The Blue Moon, Nelspruit with Fuzigish, The Hellphones and the New Academics
September 15 Burn, Durban with The Hellphones
September 22 Die Mystic Boer, Bloemfontein with The New Academics
Septmber 29 Oppiaarde, Potchefstroom
The Album, titled “Will Take Over The Word” is released through Red Ambulance records and distributed through Iris. The 17-track album showcases the infectious, up tempo sound of Japan and I to perfection. Recorded and produced by Mark Phillips for Audio matrix, the album was finished earlier this year, and is now ready to be thrust out in to the big wide world.
Awesome band! Do not miss this, these chicks seriously rock out with an amazing sound and show.
